Bananas Foster Waffle Sauce

 Bananas Foster Waffle Sauce


3 large or 4 small bananas

4 Tablespoons butter

½ cup brown sugar

⅓ cup maple syrup

Generous pinch of kosher salt 

¼ cup rum (test this)

Vanilla extract

Toasted & chopped pecans


Slice bananas into coins. Set aside.


In a 12-inch saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and salt over medium heat. Once everything has melted and come together, turn the heat to medium-high and cook until the mixture is grainy and begins to bubble. This takes just a minute.


Once the mixture is bubbling, add the bananas and cook for 2-3 minutes before adding the rum.


Carefully add the pre-measured rum and continue cooking the sauce until it is the consistency of honey.


Turn off heat and stir in the vanilla extract.


Top with pecans.
