TEST: Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream Topping
Ingredients:
- 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions:
1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix the strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice.
2. Cook the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar
dissolves and the strawberries release their juices, about 5 minutes.
3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer gently. Continue to stir occasionally,
and use a spoon to mash some of the strawberries to your desired consistency. Simmer until the
sauce thickens slightly, about 10-15 minutes.
4. Cool: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the sauce to cool. The sauce will continue to
thicken as it cools.
5. Store: Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a clean jar or container. Store in the refrigerator for up
to two weeks.
